Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL7 2021 Deceuninck Quick Step
- ONE BIKE, 45 YEARS OF INNOVATION
At Specialized, innovation never stops. Shortly after the launch of the Tarmac SL6, Specialized immediately started working on the SL7 project. Engineers took it upon themselves to ensure that riders no longer had to choose between aerodynamics and weight. Backed by the best R&D resources in the world and a team of obsessed engineers, the Tarmac SL7 is a blend of lightweight, aerodynamics and ride quality previously thought impossible. That's what the Tarmac SL7 is all about.
- AERODYNAMIC, STIFF AND LIGHT
Why force riders to choose between aerodynamics and weight? Specialized has been innovating for 45 years and developing the Tarmac for nearly two decades.
“This is the kind of project engineers love and hate at the same time: hate because all the priorities seem to collide, love because it's challenges like this that allow us to design at the very edge: which is exactly what we did for the new Tarmac."
Composite Engineer NADIA CARROL
- ANY OTHER LIGHTER BIKE IS ILLEGAL
At 6.7 kg, the new Tarmac SL7 is ready to race at the weight limit. By limiting the surface area of the frame and strategically reducing the thickness of the tubes, the painted S-Works frames weigh around 800 grams, without sacrificing an ounce of aerodynamics, stiffness and ride quality.
“When we push each of these characteristics to the limit without compromising another, it is our years of experience, our incredible resources, that allow us to obtain a light bike within the limits of the rules, with an aero package like no other road bike. A road bike that still delivers the Tarmac's famed ride quality and handling.”
Design Engineer IAN MILLIKEN
- NOTHING HANDLES BETTER
The name "Tarmac" has always had driveability in its DNA: it benefits from immediate confidence, comfort and lucidity for hundreds of km. The new Tarmac SL7 raises the bar again: it's the most balanced Tarmac ever and it's the greatest example of Rider First Engineering ever made.
- INTEGRATION EQUALS SPEED
The new Tarmac SL7 frame is fast and light, but we couldn't have achieved our goals without the fastest components in the world, from the Venge's Aerofly II handlebar to the all-new Roval Rapide wheels. To ensure a 6.7 kg bike, we designed a new stem for the Tarmac that saves 45 grams, while also hiding the wiring to improve aerodynamics. Our Pro Tour mechanics were sincere, asking us to build a Tarmac SL7 that was easy to maintain day in, day out, and that gave the best riders in the world the perfect fit.
