Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL6 Glossy Red/Brilliant Yellow
The new Specialized S-Works Tarmac Disc is the latest among Specialized's road bikes and joins its "sister" S-Works Tarmac SL6 with traditional brake. Specialized strongly believes in the development of the disc on road bikes, but as the technicians of the Californian brand Specialized explained to us, they do not want to force anyone to use it and therefore leave a choice even among Professionals equipped with their own bikes, perhaps many of you remember that Specialized was the first brand to get a victory on the pro circuit with a bike equipped with disc brakes, thanks to Tom Boonen at the Vuelta a San Juan in January 2017.
But let's go back to the new Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL6 Disc. In addition to the aesthetics, it is necessary to delve into the technical solutions used to fully understand the soul and character of a bike. So let's go and observe in detail what the construction characteristics are. The frame still uses FACT12r carbon, the most advanced ever used by Specialized, and as with the "classic" version it takes advantage of Rider-First Engineered technology, which guarantees that each size has the same response both uphill and downhill. Thanks to the quality of the carbon and the use of the construction techniques we have just described, it has been possible to create a slimmer bottom bracket compared to the previous model, thus reducing the weight, but maintaining the same stiffness.
The weight represents one of the key elements on which the attention of us enthusiasts is concentrated when we find ourselves choosing a new bike, Specialized with the new S-Works Tarmac Disc has achieved a truly remarkable result, since the needle of the balance, in size 56, stops at 6.65 kg, which is less than many competitors without discs.
