S-Works Epic 2020 Sram XX1 Eagle AXS
With multiple World titles, Olympic medals and Cape Epic victories, the S-Works Epic is the fastest XC bike on the planet. Now even more efficient thanks to the Sram XX1 Eagle AXS electronic transmission, fast and precise even under stress or in prohibitive conditions.
The race courses have changed, they are more technical, steep and difficult. Don't be afraid, in Specialized this aspect has been taken as a challenge to build something special, something that can be exploited by both world-famous athletes and simple XC enthusiasts.
Handling is essential. Increasing the reach made the bike more stable at speed and more comfortable. A dropper post? Sure, the long steerer works well with the 30.9mm seat tube. The head angle is more relaxed, but not without evaluating the overall handling and therefore we have combined it with a custom 42mm offset to be able to tackle even tight corners with agility.
Stiffness, the new Brain and geometry changes are important, but we know that weight matters too. With the goal of making the new Epic the fastest XC bike in the world, its weight was a priority. At Specialized they started with the layup of the Carbon and the shape of the tubes, then the internal routing of the cables, integrated hydraulic lines for the shock. If you're curious, the weight saving is equivalent to removing the chainstays and the shock absorber rod from the 2019 Epic, therefore almost 350 grams less for a weight of around 9.9 kg.
For the technical specifications of the S-Works Epic, Specialized spared no expense, with a dedicated RockShox SID World Cup Brain fork, the new Sram XX1 Eagle AXS electronic groupset, Sram Level Ultimate brakes and Roval Control SL carbon wheels.
