Balsamo lightning at Cittiglio: the Binda Trophy is hers

The fist to the sky at the finish of Cittiglio is that of Elisa Balsamo. After 140 kilometers of track, started from Maccagno, the Lidl Trek elite athlete from Cuneo won the Alfredo Binda Trophy with a majestic sprint, able to regulate the ambitions of the world champion Lotte Kopecky. The Dutch Puck Pieterse closes the podium.

The American team thus continues its string of successes at Binda: it is the fourth consecutive after those of Longo Borghini, the same Balsamo in 2022 and Shirin Van Anrooij last year. A domain that once again certifies the enormous qualities of the team that, both in the saddle and in the management, has strong colors tricolori and that was able during tthe race to battle the numerous initiatives from the other contenders. There were indeed attempts to escape: both uphill towards Orino (GPM of the day) and downhill towards Gemonio. But the teamwork of the group has rewarded the qualities of the 26-year-old from Cuneo: the sprint of Balsamo in the straightaway of via Valcuvia did not leave any chance of comeback to her opponents. 

The show was not only on the street: our province is once again the perfect territory for this kind of racing.
